Choose an energy type (such as Fire, Ice, Acid, Electricity, Sonic, Force, or another) to become the user's permanent energy type. While this ability is active, the user is vulnerable to the opposing energy type but absorbs damage from the chosen type. Additionally, the user gains universal energy resistance equal to 5 times their HD, which applies to both the absorbed energy and the vulnerable energy, although modifiers are still factored in. Also while active any melee attack made at the user will result in the attacker taking 2d6 retaliation damage of the energy type.
At HD 11, the user can share the veil’s protective effect with allies within 15 feet, reducing its strength by half to grant the absorption and vulnerability properties to those allies as well.
