Your character rests a hand against the ground, a wall, or another fixed part of the site. Threads of sacred significance become visible throughout the area, crossing rooms, gathering around objects, and trailing toward places where important acts occurred. The threads retain the weight of those acts rather than a complete record of the place's history.
A Holy caster perceives horrors: acts of cruelty, betrayal, desecration, and suffering. An Unholy caster perceives virtues: acts of mercy, sacrifice, fidelity, and protection. An Unsanctified caster chooses one of these lenses when casting the spell. The lens cannot change during that casting. These lenses do not identify the Sanctity of anyone involved; Holy and Unholy are not measures of kindness or cruelty.
Following the Flow: As your character concentrates, the threads form indistinct scenes that convey the broad sequence of significant events. Your character might perceive that people were confined, that violence entered from outside, and that the suffering then moved toward a courtyard. Through the other lens, the same place might reveal that someone sheltered the injured, others brought supplies despite danger, and a person remained behind while those under their protection escaped toward the courtyard.
The flow begins with recent impressions and leads backward through the site's history. The time spent concentrating after the spell is cast determines how far back your character can reach:
| Continuous concentration | Historical reach |
|---|---|
| 1 minute | The past day |
| 10 minutes | The past month |
| 1 hour | The past year |
| 4 hours | The past decade |
| 8 hours | The past century |
| 16 hours | The past 1,000 years |
Your character must remain at the touched point and maintain contact while concentrating. They follow the flow rather than requesting a specific incident. They can dwell on an impression already reached, but doing so does not sharpen faces, recover exact words, or reveal unrelated events. Ending concentration ends the spell; a later casting starts again with recent impressions.
Truth and Limits: The spell reveals truthful impressions of acts that occurred within the area. Older impressions are broader and less detailed, but they do not become false. Names, recognizable faces, exact speech, and private thoughts are not revealed. The spell does not speak with the dead or recover anyone's memories. It reads what the events left in the place, even if ordinary physical evidence has since been cleaned away or removed.
The flow can show the direction an act's consequences moved within the area, but cannot reveal what happened beyond its boundary. A trail leading out of the area requires another casting at a new site to investigate further. Mundane events without a significant trace of the chosen kind are absent. An absence of horrors or virtues is not proof that nothing happened, and the spell does not supply missing parts of a story or explain motives that its impressions cannot establish.
VTT Macro Description:
@{character_name} touches a fixed point and reads Sinflow within a [[10+5*floor(@{cl}/2)]]-ft. radius. A Holy caster sees
horrors; an Unholy caster sees virtues. An Unsanctified caster chooses one lens when casting. The caster maintains contact
and concentration for up to [[@{cl}]] hours. Continuous concentration reaches the past day after 1 minute, month after
10 minutes, year after 1 hour, decade after 4 hours, century after 8 hours, and 1,000 years after 16 hours. The flow leads
backward through significant acts and reveals their broad, truthful sequence. Older scenes are less detailed, never false.
No names, recognizable faces, exact speech, private thoughts, or testimony from the dead are revealed. Impressions stop
at the area's boundary, and missing traces do not prove nothing happened. Ending concentration ends the spell and a new
casting starts again with recent impressions.
